Interested in becoming an art director, production designer, scenic designer, or media designer? The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Production Design at Five Towns College is a hands-on program that prepares students to bring creative ideas to life across stage, film, live events, and media.

Students learn through real-world production experience, combining storytelling, design, construction, technology, and collaboration from concept through execution.

Design, Build & Bring Stories to Life

Develop creative and technical skills through hands-on production experience in areas such as:

• Scenic design and construction
• Lighting and sound
• Projection and media design
• Visual and spatial storytelling
• Live event video
• Scene painting
• Carpentry and rigging
• Technical direction
• Production planning and collaboration

The Immersive Storytelling concentration focuses on concept development, visual storytelling, directing, writing, projection, scenic and costume practices, and creating immersive narrative worlds.

The Entertainment Technology concentration focuses on the technical realization of creative ideas through lighting, sound, video, production systems, and live production workflows.

Production Design students learn to take projects from concept to realization, developing experience with industry tools and workflows while collaborating across creative and technical disciplines.

Depending on their concentration and interests, graduates can pursue career paths such as production designer, art director, creative director, scenic designer, media designer, experience designer, technical director, lighting designer, production manager, and live event technician.
